We have gone tent camping every year for as long as I can remember with my sister and her family. We always camp in State Parks but try to mix it up from year to year. This allows us to see the state cheaply as State Parks are relatively inexpensive. We also try to pick a park near a supplies, as a plan B in case something happens. Camping checklist. On our first camping trip, our daughter was 8 months old. The following year, our second daughter was only 2 months old. This year, our third daughter will make her first trip at 3 months old. It's just as easy to mix formula outside as it is to mix it in a hotel room. Camping is a great way to keep that TV off and get your kids outside. It shows kids (and husbands) that there are other things to do that don't require electricity - like hiking, fishing, swimming and just getting to know each other all over again. Happy camping!!

Last fall I has simply the coolest camping trip of my life. I have posted about the trip before, so I don't want to repeat myself. But, to summarize, it was a amazing fall day when it was warmer than you would thought for a fall day. It was one of those days that sneak up on you. There you are, spending some quality time with the trees Outdoors and you stop and have a serious moment. Has this happened to you? I mean, it was a really BIG moment. Who knows where those come from, or how to get them back. But one thing is for sure, you are going to seek that type of experience again. I mean, why would you now want something that felt so good to happen again. So anyway, I don't have that much to say today except that, yes, I'm ready to be back in the woods again.

So, I say, no matter what the temperature is out there, you need to give this idea some serious consideration even if you think it's wacky. Thanks for reading my first post. It is our desire to make this blog as enjoyable as we can. Our focus is on camp experiences. We like camping and we're guessing you do too. That's why you've come here after all. We started camping at a very young age But we never ever get tired of it. It's simply such a great experience. There is something different about being in the great outdoors that is like nothing else. I'm not sure exactly how to describe it completely. But it is our aim to bring some of those experiences to this blog for you to share. I'm sure many of you could share similar experiences. So we all have something in common. If you're into camping, you don't think about this much. How do you define camping? I'm sure there is a ton of variation. Today, this thought got stuck in my mind. For example, some people think of camping as packing up a car and going to a camp ground. Others view camping as an activity where they are not near anyone else for miles and miles. Is beach camping a good idea

For those who want to enjoy camping and being outdoors, but do not want to run the risk of running into some lions, and tigers, and bears; a great alternative camping location for them to go to would be the beach.

A lot of beaches now do not allow bonfires. Some may, but only with a permit! This makes cooking out a little tricky. For those who still want to cook on the beach, they might want to bring a portable cooking stove. Those who do not want to go through this trouble, dry foods and prepackaged foods that don't need cooking is the way to go.

Camping on the beach for a lot of people is not so about the outdoors experience, or hunting for preys. For the most part, is it about enjoying the ambiance and majestic view of the ocean. This is a more tamed and romantic approach to camping.

Rain can kill the camping trip

We headed up to a campground about 45 minutes from home. It was a warm sunny day. Our troubles began when we all tried to put up the new tent. My husband was crabby and frustrated and the hot sun was beating down on us, making it difficult to get the darn thing up quickly. Once we did get it up, it looked like nice roomy family tent.

About 7 a.m. my husband got up and decided to pack it up and go home. We had no dry place to go. We had no canopy or tarp over the picnic table, no shelter from the rain. Everyone else at the campground seemed to be asleep, snug and dry in their tents. (they came prepared)

We took the Coleman tent back and exchanged for a smaller more waterproof one. After everything dries apply seam sealer and also spray the tent with silicone spray to help it repel water. Eureaka! Seam sealer! We should have done that the first time. We should have been better prepared for rain. Sometimes you learn the hard way!

I always used to put a big emphasis on camping gear. But I've found that, over the years the less concerned I am about making sure that essential camping gear was ready to go. In fact, as I've gotten older, my mind has moved away from the gear and more on the experience itself. I guess this is sort of a zen statement. But, it is more and more just about getting away. The experience itself is what is important to me and I could care less about what I bring with me in the woods. You're probably saying, no kidding. But the camping gear is cool, so it's easy to sucked into this and that and all the trips to the store. Just get out there. Enjoy it.

The whole family was invited to a camping weekend with the scouts. I nearly panicked since I had never been camping before, but my son and daughter really wanted to go. Luckily, the scouts' invitation included a camping gear check list and some websites to learn more about camping. I checked out all the sites, plus a few more, and decided to shop for the things we'd need on the trip. Between a couple camping gear websites and the big box discount store, I located everything that we would need. It was still all new to me, but when we arrived at the campground the more experienced parents were on hand to make sure that all the families had a good time. We did. Thanks to the scouts. Remember your first tent? Are your children into tents now? Sure, the tent may only be in the living room. I just love watching the little ones start to explore the idea of sleeping in a tent. I think this is something you should really encourage. Think of all the rewarding times you've had camping. Now think about all of those great things that lie ahead for your kids. This is why you need to actively encourage this stuff when they are young. So, I'll get off my soap box and back on point. The entire family can enjoy camping and I think you'll be happy that you introduced it to your kids early.
